Handmade soap is one of life's necessary luxuries. Try a bar and you will never go back to commercial soap again.
welcome
OK, I confess, I'm an ingredient snob. I belong in a 12-step program for fragrance addiction, and I love nothing more than to share that love of scent with others.
The truth is, I started out making these soaps for ME, because I wanted something that was gentle on my skin and was intrigued with the idea of tailoring a product to fit my own skin needs. Over time I realized how many people have special skin needs, and have made soaps to especially fit those problem skin areas.
I was hooked after the first time I used handcrafted soap. My skin felt soft and conditioned instead of that coated feeling that prevents your fingers smoothly gliding along. That was the last day I used a store-bought detergent bar.
our soaps
The soaps you see on my web site are the result of years of experimenting with recipes, as well as feedback from friends and co-workers. I'm always open to suggestions for new products (contact me for special needs). I use fresh, high-quality oils and butters. I prefer using herbs, clays and oxides as natural colorants, although on occasion I've been known to take a walk on the wild side and use food-grade colorants.
I make my soaps from scratch, in small batches, using what is called the cold process method. These soaps take 4-6 weeks to cure and harden, which makes a longer lasting bar for you. Glycerin is a natural by-product of this type of soap making. For this reason it is preferable that you keep the soaps away from constant water exposure when not in use. These soaps are also 5-6% superfatted. This is what makes your skin feel so soft, but which also gives handcrafted soap a shelf life. It is preferable that you use these soaps within a year of purchase
